Summary

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in offices, bathrooms, and hangars. This role involves a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a sanitary and safe environment for employees and visitors.


Main responsibilities

  • Dust and wipe down all surfaces, including desks, chairs, and tables.
  • Empty trash cans and replace liners.
  • Vacuum carpets and rugs; sweep and mop hard floors.
  • Clean and disinfect door handles, light switches, and other high-touch areas.
  • Replenish supplies such as paper towels, hand soap, and sanitizers.
  • Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, urinals, and shower facilities.
  • Restock bathroom supplies including toilet paper, hand towels, and soap.
  • Empty trash cans and sanitary bins.
  • Sweep and mop bathroom floors; clean mirrors and other fixtures.
  • Report any maintenance issues such as leaks or broken fixtures.
  • Sweep and mop hangar floors, ensuring all debris is removed.
  • Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and workstations.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins.
  • Clean windows and other surfaces as needed.
  • Ensure all areas are free from hazards and obstructions.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Use cleaning equipment and chemicals according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Report any safety hazards, broken equipment, or maintenance needs to the Facilities Manager/Supervisor.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition and report any repairs needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Key attributes

  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning tasks.
  • Good time-management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety and company policies.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and their proper use.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and in various environments (office, bathroom, hangar).

Skills/experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a janitor or in a similar role is desirable.
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
