Summary

The Tool Room Attendant is responsible for the management and distribution of tools and equipment in the tool room. This role includes issuing, receiving, inspecting, and maintaining tools, as well as ensuring proper inventory control and documentation.


Main responsibilities

  • Issue tools and equipment to authorized personnel and record transactions accurately.
  • Receive returned tools and equipment, inspecting for damage or wear.
  • Ensure tools are cleaned, serviced, and stored properly after use.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of all tools and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Reorder tools and supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for major repairs or calibrations.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in safe working condition.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures regarding tool usage and inventory management.
  • Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool usage, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Prepare reports on tool room activities and inventory status.
  • Assist in the preparation of purchase orders and budget requests.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all tool room users.
  • Assist personnel in locating and selecting the appropriate tools for their tasks.
  • Provide training on the proper use and care of tools and equipment as needed.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Basic mechanical skills and ability to perform minor repairs.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using computer software for inventory management and documentation.

Skills/experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a tool room, warehouse, or maintenance environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
