There was a record attendance in Scottsdale, Arizona for the 2024 AFRA Meeting (Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association). Airlines and lessors were two sectors of the industry with increased representation at the event. This reflects the rise in interest in environmental issues in the industry.
We took advantage of being on home turf to invite lessors, OEMs, airlines, and aftermarket companies down to our facility in Coolidge. So, we were pleased to host the likes of Carlyle, Boeing, Southwest Airlines and ANA Trading in the desert heat.
The big news was AFRA’s forthcoming collaboration with IAEG to promote sustainable aviation (International Aerospace Environmental Group). The two organisations are joining forces to foster environmentally responsible practices and enhance the circular economy in the aviation industry. The aim is to promote the ‘voluntary practices for the removal, treatment, and reuse of parts and materials from end-of-life products’.
ecube has a Diamond Accreditation for Disassembly from AFRA and our CEO, Lee McConnellogue sits on the AFRA board as Treasurer. As AFRA and IAEG unite, ecube will continue its work at this level, looking at the circular economy and end of life processes in the industry.
