Summary

The Aircraft Disassembly Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate disassembly of aircraft and aircraft components in accordance with company, FAA, and industry standards. This position plays a critical role in supporting aircraft teardown projects by ensuring all parts are removed, tagged, and documented for repair, resale or recycling.


Main responsibilities

  • Remove, inspect, and properly tag aircraft components and assemblies (e.g., engines, landing gear, avionics, flight controls).
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to remove parts.
  • Ensure all removed parts are properly tagged, documented, and stored.
  • Ability to identify damaged components by visual methods.
  • Inspect aircraft parts and components for wear, damage, or defects.
  • Document the condition of removed parts and prepare detailed reports.
  • Update and maintain accurate records of disassembly activities.
  • Ability to read/interpret AMN’s & IPC’s.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Comply with company policies, FAA regulations, and industry standards.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance on disassembly tools and equipment.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Properly dispose of waste materials and hazardous substances.
  • Work closely with other technicians, supervisors, and departments to ensure efficient operations.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Provide support and assistance to team members as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in disassembly techniques.

Key attributes

  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and confined spaces

Skills/experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, disassembly, or related field
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic understanding of aircraft systems and structures
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with FAA
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
